Indian Creek Kennels, Newport, WA - Until January, 1997 the owner of this kennel, Jeanette Bergman, operated Mountain Top Kennels near Newport, WA. Over 230 dogs were confiscated from her property because of claims of gross misstreatment. Jeanette Bergman was convicted of 16 out of 27 misdeameanor charges and sentenced to a 9-month jail sentence.

The rescue team that removed the dogs from her property reportedly found 15 dead dogs on the property 12 of which were piled up in a mountain of snow. Six other dogs were deemed so sickly they had to be destroyed and 19 dogs were destroyed because they were deemed too dangerous to transport. The kennel was a mess; urine and feces everywhere. Water bowls filled with ice because of freezing temperatures; dogs eating snow to quench their thirst. Also found were dogs with untreated fractures and skin diseases such as Mange. She also received a 10 year suspension from the AKC which expires in September, 2007.
